Buried in a bay in Maryland are a number of ships that never made it to World War I. If you want to have an educational and well organized experience, take a tour with the Atlantic Kayak company.

Booking a tour with the Atlantic Kayak company, allows you to experience the tour with minimal effort on your part. The Atlantic Kayak company has a great reservation process that includes a detailed checklist for your day that you need to read in order to create a great experience. The key items on the checklist will include water and a quick snack. The tour does not take a long enough break to need a full lunch spread. You may want lunch after your tour back at the car.

Your tour commences when you start packing for the incredible day. You can download the checklist from the Atlantic Kayak company web site at any time. This will also include the release forms as well. One of the items to add to the checklist will be a waterproof case for your camera, or a waterproof camera along with a cash gratuity for the team. Combine the cash and camera with a waterproof bag that you can add in your snacks and bottled water. This is all augmented with a nice pair of water shoes that you will wear in the kayak.

The Waze GPS system has the address for the boat launch. Please note, the road to the launch is unpaved. If you have a high performance car with low ground clearance, you may want to consider your options for the trip. The boat launch is located in a state park maintained by the state of Maryland. The boat launch does not have a full service restroom, therefore you may want to consider stopping prior to starting down the road to the park at one of the local restaurants.

The tour kicks off with a great review of the history of the ships that have been abandoned in the bay. The tour guides have a commanding knowledge of the environment and you will learn about this incredible site. The team at Atlantic Kayak company, makes boarding the kayaks’ easy. Their is a “Slingshot” ramp that allows you to board the kayak while dry an pull yourself into the water. The Slingshot ramp also works for getting out of the kayak and keeps your feel dry.

A Ghost Ship

During the tour, the guide will stop at several sites and share their knowledge of the vessell. It is amazing to see these large ships that are buried in the bay. The construction materials still exist through the surface. It is amazing to see the nails that still exist. Over the next several years, the bay will change the landscape. If you want to see the actual lumber and nails from the ships, now is the time to take in this tour. The bay continues to fill in the ships wth sediment, therefore the sooner you visit, the more you see.

Once the tour has completed, take the time to share a small cash gratuity with the team. The team makes it easy for you by transporting the kayaks in and out of the water for you and is available on the water for additional assistance.

Arriving back at your car, you will want to take the time to refresh your outerwear for the ride home. Make sure you have a BIG Beach towel and window shade for your car as this will help shade you from other vehicles, as you will need to change in your car.

Atlantic Kayak company provides a great tour of an area that is a hidden secret in the area. I would recommend a tour with Atlantic Kayak company.
