Other items to consider:

1. For all the weddings you are invited to, consider saying "no" as a start, unless you are in it.

2. Travel to "challenging locations" now that are physical in nature (Iceland and Hawaii) come to mind

3. Move to a different state

4. Get a graduate degree. It does not need to be from a top school, but if you get a government job later in life it will help you in the application process.
